New: Personal Access Token Authentication
Personal Access Token Authentication
Effective Date: December 5, 2025
We've made an important update to how JirAI connects to Jira. This change improves security and ensures that your access matches your Jira permissions.
What's Changing
JirAI now uses your personal Jira credentials instead of a shared service account. This means:
- •Your permissions, your access: JirAI will only access projects you have permission to view in Jira
- •Better security: No more shared credentials that could access projects you shouldn't see
- •Personal accountability: All actions are tied to your own Jira account
What You Need to Do
One-time setup (takes about 2 minutes):
- •Click "Connect Jira" in the navigation bar
- •Follow the wizard to create a Personal Access Token in Jira
- •Paste your token into JirAI
- •That's it! You're connected
Creating Your Token
- •Go to Jira Personal Access Tokens
- •Click "Create token"
- •Give it a name (e.g., "JirAI")
- •Recommended: Set expiry to "No expiry" for convenience
- •Copy the token and paste it into JirAI
Benefits
- •No project administrator action needed — if you can see a project in Jira, you can analyze it in JirAI
- •Secure storage — your token is stored locally in your browser
- •Easy to disconnect — click your avatar and select "Disconnect" anytime
